Elliptical Trainers One of the most popular types of fitness equipment on the market today is the elliptical trainer. As you may have heard, ellipticals offer an excellent cardio workout while also improving bone density since it is a weight bearing exercise. Both arms and legs can be utilized in a full body motion or the the legs can be isolated. The movement of an elliptical trainer is much lower impact than running on a treadmill or walking on a stepper, but similar heart rates can be acheived. At Holmes, we carry ellipticals from Octane, Bodyguard, Spirit, and SportsArt. We can walk you through the different features and find the right trainer for you! Treadmills With a great selection of top brands such as Bodyguard, Spirit, and SportsArt, and the expert advice of our staff, you won't go wrong with a treadmill purchase from Holmes. We offer a wide range of folding and non-folding models for any user. When shopping for a treadmill, think about how many hours it will be used each day, the weight of the users, and whether it will be used primarily for walking or running. We'll advise accordingly! Elliptical Trainers Elliptical trainers have become one of the most popular types of excercise machines. They offer a great aerobic exercise in addition to the weight bearing benefits to help strengthen bones. Plus, you can spend hours on an elliptcal trainer without the jarring joint impact. We sell ellipticals from Spirit, SportsArt, Octane, and Bodyguard. Stationary Bicycles At Holmes, we have stationary bikes of several varieties. The serious cyclist or weekend warrior may find interest in our 'Spin' bikes which are identical to those you'd find at the gym. Couple one of these bikes with one of our Spinervals DVDs and you are in for a serious workout! We have basic models from Schwinn and Giant and advanced models featuring electronic feedback from CycleOps and Lemond. If you are the type of person who like to watch TV or read a magazine while working out, an electronic resistance bicycle may be right for you. These are quiet and have comfortable seats, featuring resistance which can be adjusted manually or according to built-in programs. Many of these also offer heart rate monitors and sometimes heart rate control, which means the machine actually changes resistance to keep you in a specified heart rate range. Another type of stationary bike are the mechanical resistance models made by Schwinn, known as the Airdyne. These have been around for decades and offer a simple full body excercise with resistance provided by a fan. These are especially popular for those who want to incorporate arm motion into their workout routine. Home Gyms and Weight Equipment Tone your muscles and gain strength with weight equipment from Holmes! On a tight budget and minimal space, you can get a great workout using a weight bench and some dumbells. We have competitively priced freeweights ranging from one to 80 pounds. We have benches from Body Solid and Tuff Stuff starting at $149.99. Or, consider an alternative to free weights: resistance bands. These elastic bands are available in various sizes in order to provide different workout levels. You can purchase them individually or as a set including instructional videos. To supplement your freeweight workout, try using one of our wobble boards, medicine balls, or yoga balls. All of these items are available here at the store to suit your specific needs. If you want to really max out your strength workouts, you might consider one of our home gyms. We have two excellent lines of equipment - Body Solid and Tuff Stuff. Home gyms have some major advantages. For example, in a minimal amount of space, you have a variety of exercises available to you. Also, you won't need a spotter for safety reasons. From basic single station pieces to home systems with four weight stacks, we have a ton of selection - most of which is represented on our sales floor. We are happy to walk you through the selection process if you are intimidated or unsure of what you need.
