Currently Holmes supports two means of bicycle donations. If you have further questions or wish to know precisely where and how to donate your bicycle to either of these initiatives we encourage you to contact these groups directly.
Pedals for Progress
Putting used bikes to good use! Put an old bike to good use in a third world country. Donate it to Pedals for Progress. Drop the bike off locally and it will be delivered to their storage and repair facilities in Gettysburg. You must call before dropping off your bicycle. Please contact Owen at 761-4822 directly.
Fairview Township Lions Club
Our club can use your old children's bicycles and mountain bikes (no road bikes please).
We repair and recycle used bikes to give to children in need. We also provide each child with a bicycle helmet.
This community service bicycle project started two and a half years ago, when the club was given 6 unclaimed bicycles by the Fairview Township Police Department. It was originally limited to children of Fairview and Newberry Townships. Since that time, we have repaired more than 100 bicycles. We have provided bicycles to children in these townships, the Harrisburg YWCA Shelter, the Camp Curtin YMCA and the Methodist Home for Children.
If you have a bicycle that you would like to donate you may contact the following persons:
